Originally the
Five Town was made up of Cedarhurst, Hewlett, Inwood, Lawrence and Woodmere. There are more communities that are considered to be part of the Five Towns, including
Atlantic Beach,
Woodsburgh and
North Woodmere.
Woodmere is the largest and most populous community in the Five Towns, while the commercial hub is considered to be
Central Avenue in Cedarhurst with numerous kosher eateries and Judaica stores. This community is strategically located close to Brooklyn and a 40 minute
LIRR(rail road) ride to Manhattan.
